Gutters have one job: catch the water coming off the roof and carry it away from the house. When they're clogged, undersized, or pitched wrong, water goes over the back edge into the fascia, behind the siding, and straight down at the foundation. Clean them twice a year, once after the spring seed drop and once after the leaves come down in late fall. Bella Vista, Fayetteville, and anywhere with mature oaks and pines needs a third pass. While you're up there, look for standing water, sagging sections, pulled hangers, and rust or separation at the seams.
Check the downspouts, not just the troughs. Run a hose and confirm water exits at the bottom and lands at least four to six feet from the foundation. Add extensions or splash blocks where it doesn't. Look at the fascia board behind the gutter for soft spots or peeling paint, which mean water has been getting behind it.
If you're cleaning gutters more than twice a year, guards are worth the money. Good guards handle leaves and most pine needles and cut maintenance to a quick visual check. If gutters are overflowing even when they're clean, they're too small for the roof area, and moving to a six-inch profile with more downspouts solves it for good.
